RESERVE YOUR TRIP NOW!
We want to help you make the most of your next family vacation. That's why Hike New York has partnered with Malouf's Mountain Camp to make escaping the city with your entire family easy and fun! Connect with nature and each other through outdoor activities, games, and shared experiences.
The location: Malouf's Mountain Sunset Campground is tucked away on Fishkill Ridge, behind Beacon, NY. It is a luxury hike-in/hike-out campground, meaning that you will need to hike into your campsite, but will find full amenities awaiting you (including a tent!).
Getting there: Take Metro-North Railroad from Grand Central to Beacon Station. You'll be picked up from Beacon Station and taken to your preferred trail head to hike in, while your gear will be magically transported to your site to await your arrival.
The weekend: After your hike in on Friday, you can set up and enjoy camp at your leisure. (Psst! You can even have pizza delivered to your tent!) But be sure to get some sleep, because Saturday will be a full day. You can choose from a variety of fun outdoor activities (below). Morning activities will run from 9:30am-12pm. We'llregroup for lunch (provided for you) before heading out for afternoon activities from 1:30pm-4pm. You'll then have a break for the dinner hours, but be sure to come back! From 7pm-9pm, we'll be hosting an evening ofs'mores & singing with acoustic accompaniment around the campfire. Sunday is yours to take at your leisure. You can hike, head into town, or sleep in and stay another night. Check-out time at camp is 11am. After your short (or long) hike out, you'll be provided transportation back to Beacon Station.
All activities are half-day activities, except for the Expedition Hike, which will be a full-day hike with lunch on the trail. Please be sure to wear comfortable shoes, and bring sun protection and bug spray since we'll be playing outside all day!

Base Camp Activities
Choose your own adventure! Learn more about the woods and landscape you’re visiting while you create nature-based art to take home; learn new songs to show off by the campfire; play games in the woods; and/or improve your map and compass skills. Programs offered in AM and PM.
Base camp activities will be led by Hudson Valley environmental educators who specialize in leading fun outdoor experiences for kids and families. They are CPR and First Aid certified. Check back soon to meet your activity leaders!
**We heartily encourage parents to join the fun! But please note that children 8 & under must be accompanied by an adult or older sibling for all daytime base camp activities.
Songs & S’mores around the Campfire
We’ll end the day around the campfire, just as it should be—with acoustic guitars and singing as we toast marshmallows for s’mores. Members of the band Funkinships will lead our chorus of old folk and new 'post-folk absurdism' songs that please crowds of kids and adults alike.
